| Removal and prevention of bio-fouling on pipe piles and marine structures |
EcoGuard units scrape off the fouling on the pipe piles as they are hit
against the wall by the natural motion of waves and tidal actions. The
system also entices the natural behavior of shells to depart away from
the source of the subtle vibration and sound created by the interaction
of EcoGuard units and the pile, which eliminates the need for industrial
waste treatment and marine contamination.
EcoGuard in action |
| Use of natural energy such as, wind, wave, current and tidal difference |
Marine fouling is removed by simply installing the system and letting it
self-operate with the power of natural energy of the sea |
| Environmentally friendly components and materials |
PE plastic is used for the buoyant and contact surface, and the material
for the connecting rope (HDPE) is that used specially in the marine applications
All the material is PE plastic and therefore, are recyclable(depends on
country's regulations). |
| Concentration of the contact surface in the central part of the unit |
The system is designed to remove only the targeted marine fouling without
damaging the pile, protective cover or anticorrosion paint. A cushion material
is installed between the EcoGuard units against deterioration and fouling
on the units. |
| Ease of visual inspection and maintenance |
The 5mm contact surface is applied to the main body by deposition molding, which prevents it from detachment and allows for an ease of visual inspection of the timing for replacement. By incorporating the convex and concave surface vertically and horizontally onto the main body, and with the flexibility of the connecting rope, it is effective to omni-directional actions. The overall effect is the efficient removal of marine fouling in a short timing and the prevention thereafter. |
| Simple and quick installation |
Easy installation is achieved by a specially designed bolt. To allow efficient installation in the water, the units are first fixed to the rope with a slip-off proofed stopper at both ends on the surface ground before being placed into the water. Much of the preparation is completed on the ground and, for simple installations, 100% can be completed on the dry surface without a need for diving operations or complex machinery installations. |
| Applicability to almost any marine structures |
EcoGuard can be applied to straight steel piles, slanted pillars and structures of tubular or square shape, all without damaging or deteriorating protective cover, anti-corrosion paint or the structure itself. It is also good for pillars and structures made of concrete. |
| Cleaning of deeper layer made possible by vertical alignment of EcoGuard
units |
By installing the system vertically, it is possible to treat more than
twice the area of the standard setting. This is accomplished with the engineering
know-how devised specially for the system. |
